Nana’s Cupboard

Approximately 3 million grandparents are raising 6.1 million grandchildren in the United States. Kentucky has one of the highest rates in the country, with 9% of our children living in the homes of a grandparent or other relative.

The reasons are myriad and complex…substance abuse, mental health issues, incarceration, military deployment, and even parental death. in a country where 12.3% of seniors live below the poverty line, feeding an unexpectedly larger household particularly challenging.

Nana’s Cupboard eases the burden somewhat by providing kid friendly food through Feeding America’s BackPack Program, along with an assortment of cupboard staples chosen to make meal planning more affordable.
